Hello everyone and welcome back! After seeing a few videos and blog posts about the Dermacol foundation, I thought I would try it out myself! It's supposed to be super super high coverage, which I liked the sound of, but I had heard both good and bad reviews of it. First off I'll apologise for the photo arrangements in this post - I was getting so frustrated trying to get them to match and go level! So I had to give up in the end as I had a meltdown haha!
I used a tiny amount on one half of my face and blended it in using my Real Techniques beauty sponge as I normally would. It felt so thick on the skin but it blended in really well, a small amount goes a long way! It was really oily at first compared to the Rimmel wake me up foundation on the other side of my face. (Dermacol is the side with my nose ring). Dermacol : Rimmel
As you can see there is actually not a lot of difference between the two at this stage, although the Dermacol one felt a lot heavier and oilier on the skin. It did cover my blemishes relatively well however I thought it clung to my spots abit and made the area around them look quite cakey.
This is what it looked like after being powdered down:
Again, there was barely any difference between the two sides, and in the photos I don't think I can tell a difference! It powdered down quite nicely and stopped feeling sticky and the oil disappeared.
I then did the tattoo cover-up test to see how thick a coverage it actually was. This is 0, 1, 2 and 3 coats of the foundation on my tattoo:
It took 3 coats to almost fully cover the tattoo which to be honest I thought it would do it in less. I thought it would be really really high coverage but it feels fuller than it actually looks. On my face it went oily throughout the day especially around my t-zone. It gave me good coverage but I don't think it was any better than my normal foundation.
Let me know if you've tried this foundation and what you think of it! And I'll be back soon with a new post. Also don't forget to follow my twitter, instagram and bloglovin to stay updated! I'd really appreciate it.
Until next time.
